Type:
Suspension Insulator (Cap and Pin type) - Designed to operate under mechanical tension.
Material:
The insulating shell (disc) is made from high-quality, dense electrical-grade porcelain, known for its insulating properties, durability, and resistance to environmental factors.
Construction
Porcelain Shell:
The primary insulating element, typically bell-shaped with sheds underneath to maximize leakage distance.
Metal Cap:
Usually galvanized malleable cast iron or forged steel, cemented onto the top of the porcelain shell. Designed to mate with the pin of the unit above or the support structure hardware.
Metal Pin:
Usually galvanized forged steel, cemented into the center underside of the porcelain shell. Designed to mate with the cap of the unit below or the conductor suspension hardware.
Cement: Specialized cement provides a strong mechanical bond between the metal fittings and the porcelain body.
Application
Used worldwide in suspension and tension strings for medium and high-voltage AC overhead transmission and distribution lines, particularly where IEC standards are followed.
Multiple units are connected in series to provide the necessary insulation for the line voltage and operating environment.
The 100 kN rating makes them suitable for lines with moderate to heavy mechanical loads, including standard transmission lines, lines with significant conductor weight or span length, and potentially some lighter angle or dead-end applications.
