    Application

A post insulator is a type of electrical insulator designed primarily for rigid support. Unlike suspension insulators that hang flexibly, post insulators are typically mounted upright (but can also be horizontal or inverted) on a flat surface or structure.
They are commonly made of porcelain (often solid core for lower voltages) or polymer composites. Their main function is to insulate and support electrical conductors, busbars, or equipment like switches and fuses, particularly in substations, switchyards, and sometimes on transmission or distribution poles for specific applications (like supporting switches or vertical construction).
They are designed to withstand significant mechanical loads, especially cantilever (bending) forces, in addition to electrical stresses.
Nominal Voltage Rating: Suitable for 15 kV or 25 kV class systems.
    BIL: 125 kV.
Low-Frequency Withstand: Specific dry and wet withstand voltage ratings (e.g., 50 kV dry, 40 kV wet for 1 minute are typical values for 15kV class/125 BIL).
Material: Often solid-core porcelain, but polymer versions exist.
Mounting: Usually has a standardized bolt pattern on the base (e.g., 3-inch or 5-inch bolt circle) and tapped holes or studs on the top cap for connecting busbars or equipment terminals.
